Responsibilities:
The Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Equity Research desk at this investment banking client of Dryden Cross is looking to add an Equity Research Associate with a strong accounting background to the team. The position entails assisting in the research analysis of the oil and gas exploration and production sector, and in the natural gas and oil commodities as well. The Associate will prepare complex financial analyses and models, assist in the analysis of the offshore drilling segment, land drilling segment, and oil services segment, assist in the creation and maintenance of detailed modeling of company specific financial and reserve models, support and answer trading, sales, and client inquiries as they relate to the sector, and provide research support to analysts as required.

The focus will be the North American oil and gas producing companies. There is great opportunity for the Associate to initiate coverage on her or his own companies in the future.

Qualifications:

The new Associate must have superior accounting skills; an accounting degree and direct accounting experience are strongly preferred. 1-2 years of experience in equity research is required as well as expertise evaluating financial statements and creating financial models, though direct industry exposure is not essential. CFA designation or an MBA and strong Excel skills are a strong plus. Excellent organizational skills are highly desired.
